A First for the ISAA and AISC Members!

The very AKC First Judges Education Program on the Icelandic Sheepdog in the United States

Istolt Aska, Viking Koko, Viking Lilja and Isi Kaffisukkulathi prepare for their AKC Judges Education Program for the Mason-Dixon Judges Association in Frederick Maryland

The Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America has sent their package to the AKC for final acceptance into the American Kennel Clubs Miscellaneous Class. After 10 years in the planning, the ISAA has finally met all of the AKC's requirements.

While considered a rare breed here in the U.S. the dogs were judged by the FCI standard in rare breed conformation shows, unfortunately the AKC would not accept the FCI as written, they required different wording, different format and requested more descriptive elements in the Breed Standard that was submitted. It was this standard that Istolt Aska, Viking Koko, Viking Lilja, and Isi Kaffisukkulathi had the privilege to present on this historic event in Icelandic Sheepdog History in the U.S. Accompanying the four AISC member presentation team were Elisabet Stacy-Hurley, Jonathan Pickett and Jo-Ann Secondino who aided the team members with the oral parts of the program.
The AKC judges were thrilled to meet this lovely pack of smiling dogs and were very interested in proper tail and ear set, height and proportion and gait. All the judges can't wait to see them in the AKC Conformation ring!
A big Double Dews up to Aska, Koko, Lilja and Kaffi for putting their best paw forward for this event.
